Everyday over the world there are billion of disposable plastic cutleries are being used. In United States alone, there are about 40 BILLION plastic utensils are used within a year. These utensils are only used once and then discarded. At the end of day, most of them are goes to landfill, some even landed in the sea, river and many places. They are not only wasteful in terms of resource but also create a huge environmental damage to our ecosystem.

Now you can with the so called edible cutleries, thanks to a new product from an Indian company called Bakeys. Bakeys’ mission is to rid the world of plastic waste from food wares. Their utensil are not only deliciously edible but fully home compostable. Bakeys makes edible utensils from millet, rice, and wheat that can be eaten with the meal. They are available in Spoon, Fork, Chopstick and many more types in future. The utensils are mean for single use only. It designed to last about 20 minutes in hot soup. If not consumed, it will self breaks down in about 4-5 days.
